ARMY ORGANISES BLOOD DONATION CUM MEDICAL CAMP AT KULGAM

KULGAM, 30 Apr: In continuation to the efforts of the Chinar Corps to provide quality medical service to the Awaam, Victor Force today organized a mega blood donation cum medical camp at Kulgam.

The blood donation camp was organized on the request of District Hospital, Kulgam with a view to augment the depleted stock of blood held with Hospital. Among the prominent dignitaries present, GOC Victor Force Maj Gen Arvind Dutta took the leading role in donating blood. A total of 45 units of blood were donated by the Jawans of Rashtriya Rifles deployed in the area.

The Medical Camp provided free specialized medical treatment and medicine to more than 2000 people of the area. Medical treatment by a dedicated team of specialist doctors of both Army and District Hospital Kulgam were made available to the people. The specialist doctors who were present during the Camp were the Medical, Surgical, ENT, Dermatologist, Gynecologist, Dental and Eye Specialists.

A wide variety of medical, professional, vocational training kits, educational and sporting equipment was distributed keeping in view the nature of requirement of the local populace, particularly the needy people of this remote area of South Kashmir. The items distributed included hearing aids – 25; wheel chairs – 10; crutches – 05; spectacle sets – 100; sewing machines – 10; cricket kits – 10; volley ball – 10; badminton sets – 10; school bags – 50; solar lanterns – 50 and carpentry sets -10.
The camp witnessed an overwhelming response of the people of adjoining areas. The event was also attended by Maj Gen Arvind Dutta, GOC Victor Force, Brig Vinod Bhadu, Cdr 2 Sector RR, Mr Ravinder Kumar Bhat, DC Kulgam and Mr Mumtaz Ahmad, SSP Kulgam.
