Danish Malik who hails from North Kashmir’s Aloosa village of Bandipora is languishing in jail since one year with old parents struggling due to his absence.
Pertinently, he is popular as an Islamic Scholar and Orator in District Bandipora.
Being a member of Tehreek e Hurriyat led by Syed Ali Geelani Danish was arrested on 16 Nov 2016 by Police during the last years uprising as Bandipora Police claims that 9 FIRs are registered against him during the 2016 uprising.
After arresting him Police slapped PSA on him and shifted him to Kotbhalwal Jail where his health worsened as Danish during past has suffered 7 surgeries in his hand and in 2014 he was operated and grafted at Modern Hospital Rajbagh Srinagar.
Later J&K High Court quashed his detention order in March 2017 and ordered his immediate release but instead of releasing him Bandipora Police again slapped another PSA on him and shifted him again to Kotbhalwal Jail Jammu.
Danish Malik besides an Islamic Scholar is also a MBA Degree holder who by doing Private Job used to earn bread for his family which includes his parents, sister and Grand Parents who now are suffering alot due to his unlawfull detention from last 1 year.
Danish also used to provide free tutorial services to the students of his area and used to deliver free services to the students of a local school Rehmat Aalam Model School Aloosa Bandipora during his vacant time.
Presently Danish Malik is lodged at Srinagar Central Jail as an undertrial as HighCourt quashed his 2nd PSA detention order on 6 Nov 2017 but instead of court order, Police is not interested in releasing him.
Family said “that continuous Detention is effecting his health a lot and also in winter he needed more care as cold effects his hand and leg very much due to previous surgeries”.
They appealed the International organisations and Human Rights associations to play a role in the release of Danish Malik.
They made a fervent appeals to the govt to take pro humanity stand in this regard and release him as both Danish and his family are going through numerous sufferings due to his detention.
