Car lifters gang busted in Srinagar

Srinagar | Mar 02 : In order to maintain a check on motor vehicle lifters and to recover the stolen motor vehicles, an Anti Theft Squad was formed in Hazratbal Zone which was headed by SHO Lal Bazar Tauseef Lone monitored by SDPO Hazratbal, Sajad Bukhari and supervised by Superintendent of Police Hazratbal Rayees Mohammad Bhat.




Working on different leads the squad detained three car lifters who were identified as Tanveer Ahmad Sheikh son of Ghulam Rasool resident of Awantabhavan Soura, Irshad Ahmad Dar @ Gasha son of Ghulam Mohammad resident of Habbakadal and Asif Shafi son of Mohammad Shafi resident of Pantha Chowk.




On sustained questioning and investigations, the accused persons admitted to have lifted various vehicles from different locations of Srinagar city. On their disclosure five vehicles i.e. two Alto (K-10) cars, a Wagon-R car, a Maruti 800 car and a Tavera vehicle were recovered. Apart from this, spare parts of various stolen vehicles including ten engines of two Tavera vehicles, three Alto cars, two Maruti cars, two Tata 207 vehicles and a Maruti Swift car were also recovered on the instance of accused persons from the workshops of Irshad Ahmad Bhat @ Haji son of Abdul Aziz at Batwara, Srinagar and Irshad Ahmad @ Gasha at Saidakadal, Srinagar.
