Bhat Killed In Ambush By Army Says Hizbul Mujahideen

Militant outfit Hizbul Mujhadeen Saturday said that one of its militant commanders Fayaz Ahmed Bhat “attained martyrdom while fighting with Indian forces in North Kashmir’s Tangmarg area”.

Hizb Operational spokesperson told Srinagar based news agency CNS on phone that Bhat along with his associates was on a ‘mission’ when the Indian Army personnel fired upon them.

“There was an Army ambush and Fayaz lost his life during the brief gun fight. However, his other associates managed to escape from the spot,” he said.

He added that Bhat was active in the field from past six years.

“He was an active member of ‘Burhanuddin Sarhadi Squad’ and had participated in various successful operations against Indian Army in border regions,” he said.

The body of Bhat, it needs to be mentioned, was recovered from a paddy field in Devbug area of Kunzar near tourist resort of Tangmarg on Saturday morning.
