Heavy stone pelting broke out between angry youths and government forces on Tuesday in Zewan area of Srinagar over the killing of a Lashkar militant in a gunfight last night.
Sajad Ahmad Bhat was killed in a gunbattle with forces at Zakura on the outskirts of Srinagar last night.
Meanwhile, people tried to march towards the Srinagar-Jammu highway with the body, but forces deployed in the area denied them to hold funeral on the highway.
This triggered clashes between youths and forces, which continued until the filing of this report.
The youths attacked the forces with rocks who retaliated by bursting tear smoke shells.
According to reports, the deceased militant has been laid to rest at his ancestral graveyard in Zewan.
