Srinagar, Mar 14 : After 14 days of protests, the National Health Mission (NHM) Employees Tuesdaydeferred the strike call till May 10.
The NHM employees were on pen down strike for nearly two-weeks, demanding regularisation and implementation of equal work equal pay.
Meanwhile, the protesting employees told KNS that following the meeting with the Mos Health, Asiea Naqash and Health Minister, Bali Baghat on Monday, the association has decided to defer the strike till May 10. “The delegation of NHM employees met with the Health Minister during which Bali Baghat assured the delegation that the genuine demands of the employees will be addressed within the legal framework,” they said.
They said that following the meeting it has been decided to defer the strike till May 10 so that the authorities could fulfill the demands in the time. “In case the government failed to fulfill the demands, we will again take streets and will take extreme step for which the government will be held responsible,” the NHM employees threatened.
Notably, the NHM employees are on pen down strike since Mar 01.
Similarly, the NHM Employees from Jammu region who were also on strike since Mar 01 have called off their strike, after State Health Minister assured them to fulfill their genuine and long pending demands and decided to set up a committee to examine the demands of NHM Employees.
Spokesperson of the Association, Faizan A Tramboo said that after a delegation of NHM Employees met Health Minister Bali Bhagat and MOS Health Asiea Naqash at Civil Secretariat Jammu regarding the issues of NHM Employees, the Health Minister Bali Bhagat directed Commissioner Secretary Health Dr M K Bhandari to constitute a committee of senior officers including Additional Secretary Health K S Chib, Secretary Technical and Medical Education Dr Kabir Dar, Director Health Services Jammu, Director Health Services Kashmir and Mission Director NHM Dr Mohan Singh who will examine all the issues of NHM Employees and make its recommendations.
President Rohit Seth, Vice President Dr Hamid Parray and other core committee members of the Jammu Division Association have extended their gratitude to Health Minister Bali Bhagat and MOS Asiea Naqash for hearing them and assured to called off the strike from today and resuming the routine work from tomorrow onwards besides the NHM Employees Association Jammu Division has thanked all the NHM Employees for extending their support and cooperation during the last 14 due to which we got our first success in this mission and sought similar kind of support in near future.
