Suspected Patients accuse admin for delaying tests in Kupwara

Srinagar, June 10(KNB): Suspected patients at different quarantine centres in district Kupwara accuse administration of not following the rapid test system and delaying their tests since the last ten days, impelling their lives to risk in view of pandemic Covid-19.

A group of patients, who have been sent to quarantine centre in district Kupwara after one of their family member, a Pregnant lady tested positive alleged that since from last ten days they have been kept at the centre without even taking their samples though they are also accompanied by children of barely two to three age group.

They further alleged that no social distancing is maintained there not even any sanitizer or masks are being used in the quarantine centre despite government officials are providing a good food and better accomodation there, a constant fear is rising among the suspected patients related to the safety from Coronavirus as everyday suspected patients from distinct areas are brought there.

One of the patient who is in quarantine said, “After my daughter in-law came positive for the virus we along with my grandchild who is just 2 years old were brought here in a quarantine centre, it has been now more than a week since our sample has not been taken yet. Moreover social distancing, sanitizers, masks are not kept in consideration neither are followed.Government has compelled us in huge risk, it was better for them to keep us in home quarantine.”

Another patient said, “We were brought here after my daughter who is Pregnant came out to be positive, her in-laws have also been quarantined and there was no one with my daughter at the time of her delivery. It is a pity that it has been almost one week and we are not yet sampled.”

While talking to Kashmir News Bureau Chief Medical Officer Kupwara said, ” We are provided with 160 sampling kits, that too along with the guidelines of testing Pregnant ladies and severe cases at the priority basis. Since we have the limited kits that is why the cases remain pending, rest patients be assured that their samples will be taken soon.”

When Kashmir News Bureau Contacted, Additional Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Nazir Ahmad he said, “Suspected patients should understand that the entire process of sampling is done under the proper guidelines issued by the administration and it will continue as so, we are ordered to take the samples of Pregnant ladies and most severe cases first after than the suspected ones.”

He further added, ” It will take some time but everyone’s sampling will be done without further delay, Patients have to cooperate with us.”(KNB)
