At a time when the aura and charisma of private satellite channels has overwhelmed the tradition Television channels the need to remain relevant has become even more important for the state-run tv stations like Doordarshan. We have witnessed that on account of lack of appeal and the competition in the market the audience base of Doordarshan has witnessed pressure and according to some critics not able to fight impressively the battle when compared to private TV Channels.
But off late one has seen a refreshing change as number of nicely diverse drafted programmes being aired on Doordarshan which are helping it to regain its foothold. In our case, the Doordarshan Kashmir has been telecasting a very successful youth oriented debate and discussion programme titled ‘Youth Forum’ focusing on burning topics confronted by our society and in the said programme youth from different parts of the Kashmir valley are getting full space to communicate their forceful and thought provoking viewpoint on diverse issues and often question the related and renowned experts in this regard. From global meltdown to Hotel Management to unemployment problem the stated TV Show is trying to cater to all the burning issues faced by the society in our part of the world.
Voices are hoping that with the onset of year 2014 this dynamism would be continued and a larger number of crucial issues would be debated in coming programmes of this famous show.
For the moment, under the intelligent and dynamic producer Shabir Akhter and Charismatic Anchors like Uzair and Safina Nabi the show is touching the hearts and minds of people of Kashmir and every concerned corner and voice viewing and analyzing the performance of Doordarshan Kashmir is viewing Youth Forum as a refreshing and positive change.

One is quite optimistic that in year 2014, the famous debate and discussion programme Youth Forum will not only debate more burning issues faced by our society but all major issues faced by humanity at large. In this regard providing more dynamic youth the opportunity to voice their opinion on crucial issues could be a step in right direction.
