For non-concurrency of government, about 1300 Army officers have denied to part with a days salary for J&K flood victims of 2014.
“The refusal to part with a day’s salary, according to documents, is the latest in the controversy over a “donation cheque” that was handed over to the Prime Minister in January by the Army. The dummy cheque, which is yet to be formally deposited into the PM’s Fund, was titled ‘One day’s pay of all ranks of the Indian Army’,” reported The Economic Times.
According to the report, the army men were upset as they saw it as a unilateral announcement without taking consent of everyone involved.
The amount to be contributed would have worked out to just over Rs 100 crore.
While over 19,000 officers have consented to contribute to the fund, the refusal by other officers is being seen as rare, visible protest from within the force, it said.
