Srinagar 13 March (KNB): Senior KAS officer Gazanfar Ali said that he will write to Ayatullah Sistani and Ayatullah Khamene’i to issue a Fatwa against Waseem Rizvi over his statement on removing 26 verses of Holy Quran.

While talking to Kashmir News Bureau, Gazanfar Ali said, “I, as a Shia decry Rizvi and his move (petition in SC seeking removal of 26 verses of the Quran).”

“I’ll write to Ayatullah Sistani and Ayatullah Khamene’i to ensure that they’ll give a Fatwa against him (Rizvi) and declare him a Murtad (an apostate from islam),” Ali emphasized.

Ali said, “Rizvi has wrongly quoted three Khulfayi Rashdeen (RA) and I strongly condemn it,” adding that, “He has no right to say anything against any Muqadisaat.”

Gazanfar Ali said, “Quran is revelation from Allah to our beloved Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon Him). It is a Mojza (Miracle) which is being studied by the scientists around the world and they learn from it.”

“Verses of this mighty book (Quran) have been proven truthful through scientific means,” Ali added.

Referring to the 26 Verses, which as per Waseem Rizvi’s claims promote violence, Gazanfar Ali said, “He (Rizvi) cannot take out these 26 verses out of the context and then talk about it,” adding, “obviously, whenever and wherever evil rises, God and even the worldly powers will talk about standing up and striving against it.”

Ali further said that he is not aware about the exact verses yet, but understands that Rizvi must have taken those verses out of context, which surely talks about striving against injustice and oppression.

“Isn’t there ‘death penalty’ mentioned in Indian Constitution? then should we call that wrongdoing? Violation?” Gazanfar Ali asked, adding, “No! because to stop evil, injustice, heinous crimes, we have to take a step through which we can set up an example for others to learn and make them aware about the consequences they’ll face, if they take any similar steps.”

While condemning Rizvi, Ali further said, “What Rizvi has done is absolute blasphemy and I urge the Scholars of Shia community and all the Ulemas to raise their voice against him, decry him!” (KNB)
