PDP has bartered J&K’s sense of self-respect: NC
Srinagar | Mar 17 : Former J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has asked if the BJP would ask Mehbooba Mufti to chant ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ as a condition for government formation in the state. “Is Mehbooba Mufti also going to be asked to chant “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” as a condition for Govt formation in J&K,” Omar tweeted.
Meanwhile, National Conference on Thursday lashed out at PDP for bartering the State’s sense of self-respect and dignity in exchange for power and said the overwhelming resentment against the party throughout the State was a loud and clear indication of PDP’s political rout.
Addressing party workers at a function held in Dooru, Anantnag to observe the 2nd Death Anniversary of NC Leader Mohammad Akbar Ganai, NC Provincial President Nasir Aslam Wani said the State had been pushed into political uncertainty and instability by the PDP-BJP Alliance.
“The PDP-BJP Alliance brought with it an unprecedented array of challenges to the State’s honour and dignity. This alliance questioned the sanctity of our State flag and wreaked havoc with the developmental gains made by the previous Omar Abdullah Government. Having ascended to power on the basis of lies, deceit and false propaganda, the PDP-BJP Government has turned out to be a complete nightmare for the people of the State”, Wani said.
He said National Conference believed in the politics of dignity and would never compromise on the State’s interests and the sentiments of the people. “National Conference is the only political force that can salvage the State from this situation of hopelessness and offer an alternative of inclusive, strong and principled politics. We have never sacrificed our principles for power and we will continue to work with our people to articulate their aspirations and expectations”, said Nasir Aslam Wani.
Demanding a further increase in the ration quota, the NC Provincial President said the Governor’s Administration had at least demonstrated a will to heed to the misery of the people on this issue which was a welcome change from how the previous PDP-BJP Government had turned a blind eye towards agitations and protests across the State on the NFSA implementation issue. “We appeal to the Governor to ensure ration reaches every ration depot across the State and that the quota is further increased with less, more realistic rates”, the NC Provincial President said.
Addressing party workers on the occasion, senior National Conference leader and Party’s south zone president, Sakina Ittoo said National Conference was the only alternative to the politics of uncertainty and deception and said the party’s consolidation at the grassroots level indicated the overwhelming preference of the masses.
National Conference leaders including District President Kulgam and MLA Homshalibug, Abdul Majeed Bhat (Larmi), MLCs Dr. Bashir Ahmed Veeri and Showkat Ahmed Ganai, Party’s District President Anantnag Dr. Mohammad Shafi, NC Provincial Spokesperson Imran Nabi Dar, Constituency In-charge Advocate Farooq Ahmed Ganai along with constituency heads from South Kashmir, party leaders and office bearers were also present on the occasion.
