Srinagar, Mar 28 (KNB): It is to be essentially rebutted in view of the prejudiced, malicious, unprofessional and uncalled allegations made by daily ‘Tameel-e-Irshad’ against the Kashmir News Bureau (KNB)- A multimedia news agency registered with Government of Jammu and Kashmir. The KNB always maintained the ethics and spirit of true and fair journalism, in this context, a news titled “Shocking: Drabu illegally holding the office of profit as legislature” was published in its bulletin dated: 27 March 2018.
The above-titled story by KNB reflected the illegal standard of former Finance Minister of the state Mr. Haseeb Drabu, based on facts and investigation by a highly professional team of KNB. Soon after the news went viral on Social Media wherein general public expressed anguish over the Drabu’s illegally holding office of profit, the editor of three dailies and one weekly Mr. Raja Mohiudin called over KNB Chief Editor Malik Sajid on phone and requested for a meeting.
During the meeting Raja Mohiuddin while acting as mediator of Mr. Haseeb Drabu who also called over the phone on the occasion asked to remove the news, however, maintaining standards and ethics of journalism the KNB Chief Editor on behalf of the KNB denied removing the news which had gone viral of media.
In its Wednesday edition, the Tameel-e-Irshad published a story in which Raja Mohiuddin aimed to combat the failure of his mediation unsuccessfully by maligning the image of Kashmir News Bureau and also the Chief Editor. Today an emergency meeting of the editorial desk was held wherein the said news item was discussed threadbare, very strong note of the same taken by the entire editorial desk of KNB and it was unanimously maintained that such an allegation was highly malicious and propagandist and called for a defamation suit in the court of law.
It was eventually concluded that such an immature and unprofessional approach of Tameel-e-Irshad was highly regrettable and was protested by the entire fraternity of Kashmir News Bureau in the strongest of its tenors. The Chief Editor further demanded an unconditional apology from the Editor of the paper failing which a defamation suit could be filed against the paper as such.
Further, it is to inform the general public that Kashmir News Bureau stands with its story based on facts and investigation.
