Have vital leads about Sopore attacks: DGP

Srinagar, May 30 : The Director General of Police (DGP) K Rajendra Kumar Saturday said police has got vital leads about recent Sopore attacks and investigation into the incident has already been initiated.

According to TKS  correspondent, the DGp while talking to reporters said that during the initial investigations, police has got some vital leads and only after completing the investigation, facts about the Sopore attacks will be made public.

“I along with senior officers visited the Sopore area to assess the ground situation. People there are scared and we are trying to pacify the situation,” Kumar said.

A spate of attacks against telecom employees and those who have rented out space for installation of mobile towers in their fields has thrown the communication system in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district into disarray. Unknown gunmen on Monday shot dead an employee of a BSNL franchisee and injured two others in Sopore town.

The state police chief while commenting over the recent statement of the Amnesty International wherein it had suggested ban on the use of pellet guns on protestors in Kashmir, said that police at all times is ensuring the safety of people and meager damage to the public property. “Even those who protest on streets are our own boys- how we could cause them any damage,” DGP said.
