Shopian 15 March (KNB): The total number of militants killed in an encounter in Shopian’s Rawalpora reached two on Monday, and among the killed, one has been identified by a police official as Jaish commander Sajad Afghani.
The encounter started in the Rawalpora area of Shopian on Saturday evening after the forces and police launched CASO. During the encounter, one militant was killed earlier, which police confirmed on Sunday morning. The name of the slain militant was revealed as Jehangir Ahmad.
However, IGP Vijay Kumar on Monday confirmed the killing of another militant in an encounter, taking toll two, as Sajad Afghani, a Jaish commander.
Further police tweeted that “IGP Kashmir congratulates Shopian police & SFs for eliminating JeM commander militant Sajjad Afghani in Shopian encounter.”
Pertinent to mention that search operation is underway, and the internet service has been suspended in the area due to security reasons. (KNB)
