Thousands attend Mudasir’s funeral

Thousands of people participated in the funeral prayers of Kashmir research scholar who was found dead suspiciously in a Hyderabad university on Saturday. His body was taken to a local hospital in south Kashmir’s Pulwama, some 50 kms from summer capital Srinagar, for post mortem.

At least 2,0000 people shouting Aazadi slogans took Mudasir Kamran’s body to a local ground where the head of Jamate-Ahle-Hadees, GR Malik led the funeral prayers.
A post mortem is now being conducted.
People started assembling in Parigam village since morning waiting for his body.

His body was received amid pro-freedom and anti-India slogans. His kin and locals accuse that Mudasir Kamaran was killed for his pro-Aazadi stand.

Various leaders participated in the funeral. The government has imposed strict restrictions in Pulwama and Shopian areas.

Meanwhile, the United Jehad Council has condemned the death. In a press statement the umbrella organisation said that Kashmir people were unsafe in Indian mainland.

Meanwhile, the Kashmir University Teachers Association (KUTA) has demanded top level judicial enquiry by a sitting High Court judge about the death of the PhD scholar Mudasir.

In a statement issued by its President, the KUTA has appealed the Prime Minster of India Dr. Manmohan Singh to personally intervene in the matter and ensure a fair probe into the incident.

The CM of J&K state has been impressed to take necessary measures to ensure safety and security of all the students/scholars pursuing studies in different parts of India. The KUTA has expressed heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased
