Irritated by erratic supply, residents of posh Rajbagh locality of Srinagar are up at arms against the PDP led government. The power supply in the area is not only disturbing, but depicts the neglect of this once posh area of the summer capital, where bureaucrats, politicians and other top big-shots reside.

It is almost first time that these big-wigs of Kashmir are mostly having dinner under candle light. According to the locals, Power Development Department, has failed to provide an uninterrupted power supply. They said that the area is facing shortage of electricity from past two-months with nil attention paid by the concerned officials.

People complain they have to pay electricity bills without utilising the adequate electricity.

Electricity shortage as well as the low voltage has affected the businessmen and people related to other businesses. ”I am facing lot of problems because my business depends upon internet. I am not able to charge my phone or laptop forcing me to go to an internet cafe where I do my work. It costs me additional dues,” said Bilal Ahmad.

Chief Engineer PDD Bashir Ahmad Khan said they have  not received funds from the government for maintenance of power supply. ”There is nothing in our hands as government has not released funds and we are facing the non-availability of resources.”
