Says administrative, fiscal reforms paying dividends
Jammu, Nov 23: Member Legislative Council Firdous Tak has applauded the Jammu and Kashmir government led by Chief Minister Ms. Mehbooba Mufti for showing impressive growth rate in the latest survey conducted by a reputed media house.
In its latest annual ‘State of the States’ ranking Jammu and Kashmir has shown an impressive growth rate of 14.7 percent in 2015-16 and was ranked 2nd in the country. The state has also positioned itself at 11th in the overall ranking of large states and has achieved 2nd ranking in other two key areas including Education and Environment.
In a statement, issued here today, Firdous Tak said that the result of the outcome of administrative and fiscal reforms the present dispensation was introducing to revamp the system brining accountability and transparency. “From the last three years every budget presented by the state government has focoused on the fiscal reform. The reforms are sure to have long lasting positive impact on the system bring the state of Jammu and Kashmir out of financial morass and inculcating working culture in the government sector”, he said.
“Achieving significant milestones in implementation of various developmental initiatives, Jammu and Kashmir has marked positive performance in this comparative study and has received accolades and recognition in various fields including education, environment and cleanliness, inclusive development besides cutting into top 10 states in health, law & order, economy and infrastructure”, he said adding that the state government deserves kudos for achievement as it has achieved the milestones despite several problems on the ground and defunct administrative setup inherited from the previous dispensation.
He said that the latest report came following another publication by the Central Statistics Office recently where Jammu and Kashmir and Arunachal Pradesh were declared to be the fastest expanding State economies in 2015-16. The two States also reported the fastest rise in per capita income in the same year.
Per capita income in Jammu and Kashmir and in Arunachal Pradesh rose by more than 14 per cent at constant 2011-12 prices, while the rise at the national level was 6.8 per cent. The rapid expansion of Jammu and Kashmir’s GSDP came after a 0.3 per cent contraction in 2014-15 when the State was hit by its worst flood in 60 years following heavy monsoon rains , he said.
Tak said that the state government was setting new benchmarks in administrative and fiscal reforms which have already started paying dividends.
