Supreme Court Suspends J&K High Court’s Beef Ban For Two Months

Supreme Court has suspended the order, enforcing ban on the sale of beef in Jammu and Kashmir for two months.

High Court’s Srinagar bench presented a petition after the Jammu bench of state High Court had directed the police to enforce ban on cow slaughter and sale of beef in state.

The Supreme Court asked the Chief Justice of the High Court to set up a three-judge bench to deal with the issue for earliest solution.

The Cheif Justice of India stated that having two conflicting orders, it is required to be solved by the Chief Justice of High Court by constituting a three judge bench.
The beef-ban enforcement led to boisterous protests in Kashmir while 72-hour internet termination was also enforced on the festive occasion of Eid.
