Stop complaining about own Govt, start delivering as MLA: NC to Altaf Bukhari

‘MLA should ensure proper works, development as elected representative’

Srinagar, Dec 24 : National Conference on Saturday said PDP Leader and MLA Amira Kadal Altaf Bukhari should stop complaining about his own Government and deliver on his responsibilities to his constituents as their duly elected representative. Reacting to certain statements of the incumbent MLA criticizing his own Government, National Conference Provincial President and former MLA Amira Kadal, Nasir Aslam Wani said Altaf Bukhari was trying to run with the hare and hunt with hound by trying to absolve himself of his responsibilities in the cloak of valiant criticism of his own Government.

“As an MLA of the ruling party, Altaf Bukhari has to ensure works and projects are completed properly and to the benefit of his constituents rather than issue press statements against his own Government. It’s like running with the hare and hunting with the hound. These seem to be mere tactics to secure a Cabinet Berth and the MLA seems to be least concerned about his constituents – who have been literally abandoned by the elected representative ever since he was dropped from the State Cabinet”, the NC Provincial President said in a statement.

The NC Provincial President said the PDP Leader and MLA instead of complaining about the slow progress of work on dredging of Jhelum should ensure and monitor the progress of the dredging work as a public representative. “He is absent from the constituency since being dropped from the Government. Moreover if he is so concerned about the Jhelum how come he has ensured construction of a hotel next to Abdullah Bridge and used his influence to get a ‘No Objection Certificate’ (NOC) for this project which is literally inside the river bed”, the NC Provincial President added.

The NC Provincial President asked MLA Amira Kadal to explain why the Old Zero Bridge has been locked to rot after spending crores on the restoration of the bridge which was done during the tenure of Omar Abdullah as the Chief Minister of the State and was inaugurated by the PDP-BJP Government with great fanfare and photo-ops.
