Sopore resident killed by forces 23 years ago: Family awaits justice

Baramulla: 23 years have passed family of Arampora Sopore still waiting for justice. Ghulam Mohiuddin Hajam a local Hakeem of Armpora area of apple town Sopore was allegedly  killed by forces, but police reports told he was died in a road accident.

Family sources of deceased said, it was 11th of August 1992 when Ghulam Mohiuddin Hajam (local Hakeen) 45 had left for Aishmuqaam Shrine, but not return back to home. On next day local police belongs to police station Sopore inform his family that Hajam was died in a road accident and police found his body along a road side in Goriwan area of Bijbehara in South Kashmir.

While talking to Gulam Hasan son of Hajam said ” Police version said that my father was died in a accident but there were marks of bullets on his legs, chest and face which indicates that some one was fired him from point blank range,his body was also dragged but till date we are still thinking why police told that he was died in a road accident. He said, “It was 12 August 1992 when three police man of police station Sopore visited our home and inform us that Gh Mohiudin was died in a road accident in South Kashmir and police found his dead body on road side, and Bijbehara police has sent his body to Sopore, we were shocked and rushed to police station where police handover the dead body of my father to us.” Gulam Hasan said.” We receive the body but found that there was marks of bullets on his face, legs and chest, after two days some senior citizens visited police station Sopore and tried to submit FiR but helpless police officials advised us to lodge  complain in Bijbehara ,we even visited Bijbehara but they didn’t accept our complaint. After inquiry in locality of Bijbehara locals confirmed and inform us that forces had killed an unknown person on same date at road side and later police shift the body to any unknown place, then we understand he was my father Ghulam Mohiuddin”,he added.

Hassan further said later we submit forcibly our complaints in police station Sopore and Bijbehara but from the time both police stations not respond our applications neither they register FiR nor they provide us death certificate. “We want to punish those people who killed my father without any reason, this is our aim only ” he said.

Mohammad Ashraf a local of the area said, ” we all know that Ghulam Mohiuddin was not died in a road accident, because we saw scores of bullet marks on his body but we are also helpless before police and forces, a senior police officer of Bijbehara police also confirmed that Hajam was killed by forces but they have no evidence as he told us”.

Family sources said, later they register their complaint in human rights but like others their case is also pending from years and family of Hajam is still waiting for justice.
