SKIMS Frontline, Healthcare Workers Along with Director SKIMS Receives Shots of Vaccine on e-launch of Covid19 Vaccination by PM Country-wide

Srinagar 16 January (KNB): On the occasion of e-launch of massive Covid-19 vaccination drive in the country by the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, virtually today, the frontline healthcare workers at Sher-I-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences received the first shot of the vaccine.

As per statement issued to Kashmir News Bureau the various Heads of the Departments lead by Director SKIMS, Dr. A.G Ahangar, who received the shot of vaccine emphasized the significance of this immunization programme world over to comprehensively combat the corona pandemic. 

It is a moment of pride that the world has been waiting for. One and all know that SKIMS played a vital role in managing the Covid-19 pandemic and it is gratifying to be part of this vaccination drive today in which the all frontline warriors shall be vaccinated in coming days and SKIMS has all arrangements in place to make this drive another success story at SKIMS.

“On the first day of the vaccination drive today the frontline workers received the first jab of the vaccine. In the coming weeks all the staff of the hospital will be vaccinated. All preparations have been done in this regard, the staff has been trained to carry out the exercise as per the laid down protocol and the guidelines,” the statement read. 

However, SKIMS was one of the major vaccination sites identified in the UT of J&K on the e-launch of  the Nationwide Vaccination drive by the Prime Minister who addressed the recipients across the country via video conferencing. The e-launch programme at SKIMS Srinagar was widely publicized and covered by the media platforms all across the country and the Union Territories. 

The historic occasion was conducted at SKIMS in its auditorium where Rajiv Rai Bhatnagar, Advisor to Lt Governor of Jammu and Kashmir presided over the function. While speaking on the occasion he emphasized following protocols such as wearing a mask, hand /respiratory hygiene and social distancing as was reiterated by the Prime Minister while launching the vaccination drive.

 He also lauded Dr. Ahangar and his team for leading from the front who received the first shot of the vaccine which he said will give confidence and boost to other beneficiaries. D.C Srinagar, Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary (I.A.S), Mayor of Srinagar (SMC), Junaid Azim Mattu, also spoke on the occasion and appreciated all healthcare workers for their efforts and appealed to the general public to follow the protocols till the pandemic is over.
