An army soldier was injured in an ongoing gunfight between militants and government forces at Shopian district of south Kashmir.
According to sources told that a Joint team of army’s 3 RR, 55 RR and SOG launched cordon-and-search operation at Astan Mohalla area of Awanura village in Zainpora Shopian following inputs about the presence of some militants.
As such the joint team of forces intensified the combing operation, the militants opened fire while trying to break the cordon triggering off an encounter.
However, when reports last came the intermittent firing was going on.
Multiple reports said that senior Hizb militants are trapped at encounter site.
