On Thursday, 25th July, 2013, a heartrending episode shocked Kashmir when a student of 3rd Standard Comitted Suicide.An Orphan Boy found dead in Salih Sublime School RajBagh.
A 12-year-old student studying in 3rd class of Salih Sublime School RajBagh was found dead in mysterious conditions in the school building on Thursday.
In a statement police identified the deceased as Najeeb-bin-Noor son of late Noor Mohammad of Tengpora, Srinagar. Police said that the incident was reported to police by the principal of the school.
“The forensic experts inspected the place of occurrence and the body of the [deceased] student has been sent for post mortem”, the statement read adding that police has initiated inquest proceeding under section 174 CrPC in this regard.
Meanwhile while talking to Kashmir Scenario one of the students said, “The boy was found dead under mysterious circumstances. The teachers especially the Principal also use corporal punishment and also beat the students in the school “
The school administration rejected the allegations and told that the deceased had committed sucide. He was found missing in his class room and when the teachers started to search for him, he was found hanging inside the washroom.
The deceased was living in Al-Mahmood, an orphanage home after the death of his father.
On the otherhand, the family of the deceased questioned the school management claims that the boy committed suicide by hanging himself in the toilet. “The toilet is 12-feet high and there was no tool or other objects that could have helped him reach the ceiling to hang himself,” said Imtiyaz Ahmad Mir, deceased’s elder brother.
His other brother, Iqbal Ahmad, who was present at the time of postmortem, said: “There were visible beating marks on the body of Noor.”
“He had also received wound on the back of head. It is not suicide or heart attack but murder,” the brother cried. “In case of hanging, eyes and tongue protrude out but nothing like that could be observed from the body,” he added.
While talking to The Kashmir scenario, the management of Al-Mahmood orphanage were the deceased was residing stated- “The deceased child was a very good child and on the fateful day he had eaten Sehri for fasting. He was very well behaved child and we are quiet pained by this episode and are in sense of mourning and grief.”
With allegations of corporal punishment and allegations made by family the situation calls for thorough probe on this painful incident.
