Mumbai 14 August: Popular actress Sonam Lamba, recognized for her roles in notable shows including “Sasural Simar Ka 2,” “Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya,” “Balika Vadhu,” and “Diya Aur Baati Hum,” is set to take on the lead role in the upcoming show “Jahaan Chaand Rehta Hai,” produced by actor Vijayendra Kumeria.
Sonam, enthusiastic about her new venture, shared her thoughts on her character, Kiran. In a candid conversation, she revealed, “Kiran’s tale revolves around a small village in Punjab, where she faces the challenges of belonging to a traditional family that restricts educational opportunities for girls.”
Sonam elaborated on Kiran’s determination and intelligence, stating, “Kiran defies societal norms and secretly educates herself, surpassing even her teachers and the school principal. Her aspirations extend to mastering the English language and harboring dreams of traveling to the moon.”
Expressing her desire to create a positive impact on society, Sonam explained, “Through this role, I aim to shed light on the struggles faced by women like Kiran and their resolute spirit to achieve their dreams. This series chronicles her journey, her triumph over obstacles, and her path to becoming an astronaut. Unlike my previous roles as the obedient daughter or daughter-in-law, I am thrilled to portray the character of an ambitious young woman. I have always yearned to be part of a project that carries a significant social message. Our aim is to challenge the prevailing perceptions in regions where opportunities for girls are limited. I am hopeful that our show can spark change.”
“Jahaan Chaand Rehta Hai” is scheduled to premiere on August 15, showcasing Kiran’s inspiring journey. Sonam, reflecting on the project, shared, “We wrapped up the shooting of this finite series in Punjab around March. Looking ahead, I am excited about exploring new and exhilarating opportunities. I am drawn to roles that test my abilities and offer unique challenges.” The show will also feature Vibhuti Thakur, Shresth Kumar, and Rajiv Kumar in pivotal roles, with Raghav Dhir taking on the role of the male lead opposite Sonam.
