Rather applauds decision construction of Vailoo-Singhpora Tunnel

MLA Kokernag, Abdul Rahim Rather has hailed the decision of construction of Tunnel from Vailoo Kokernag to Singhpora Kishtwar which will not only shorten the distance but also provide all-weather connectivity between the two regions of the state.




The matter for the construction of this tunnel was taken up by the Chief Minister with the Surface Transport Ministry, Govt of India, during her recent visit to New Delhi and the sanction for the same has now been accorded. He has thanked and complimented the Chief Minister  Mehbooba Mufti for her efforts in this regard and for her persuading the issue to its finalisation.

Construction of this tunnel was a dream both for the people of Kokernag area and that of the people of Chinab Valley. This tunnel will not only shorten the distance by around 70 kilometers but will also provide an alternative and a dependable road between Jammu and Srinagar. The said tunnel will help to give a boost to the tourism of Chinab Valley and that of the Kokernag area as well.

The construction of this tunnel has been under a serious consideration since the formation of the present collation government. MLA Kokernag Abdul Rahim Rather has been pressing tooth and nail for the construction of this tunnel from the first very day when he was elected as MLA of Kokernag. He has expressed his hope that this connectivity will help the process of development of his constituency to a very great extent.




He said that the people of his constituency have been overwhelmingly enthusiastic and have expressed their pleasure in sanction of this project.
