Lal Singh, Priya Sethi pitch for private, public cooperation in education sector
Jammu, Jan 14 : Minister for Education, Naeem Akhtar today said that private schools play a vital role in imparting quality education to the students and these institutions should supplement the Government’s efforts to consolidate the transformation taking place in this key sector.
The Minister was speaking at a day-long seminar on the topic “Enriching the Academic Hemisphere of J&K – Contributive Essence of the Private Schools ” organized at University of Jammu.
Organized by the Private Schools Coordination Committee Jammu, the seminar was aimed to provide a platform to bring all stakeholders including ‘Promoters of the Private Schools, Academicians, Regulators’ and also the Government functionaries at one platform to have an interaction that will determine the future growth of the private schools in the state.
Speaking on the occasion, Naeem Akhtar said that affordable private academic institutions play an important role in a larger society. He said use of ICT should be promoted at all levels in schools. He announced that henceforth the registration of private schools will be provided for five years who fulfill the requirements.
”Government is keen to provide single window system for all the grievance redressal and providing NoC from different departments,” he said.
He also promised to review the SRO-123 and promised his full support to the low budget private schools.
Minister for Forest, Environment and Ecology Choudhary Lal Singh while speaking said that private schools promoters have a great contribution in imparting quality education to the youth of the State. He also gave a word of caution to the private schools and asked them to be the real nation builders and do this work with the real spirit of social service instead of commercialization.
While congratulating the organizers of this programme, he said that such type of interaction shall be a boon for the policy makers and it becomes the strength of the system
Minister of State for Education, Technical Education, Pryia Sethi, while speaking in the seminar, congratulated the organizers for a well meaning seminar and promised all sort of help for the private schools.
Various Heads of the Private schools made presentations in the seminar and explained the contribution of the private schools in the Society.
They also highlighted the problems being faced by the private schools by different Government orders and SROs and requested the Minister to immediately review it.
Prominent amongst those who made presentations included Gambir Charak M.D. Dogra Academy, Sanjeet Sharma, Udhampur, Satya Shivang Gupta, M.D. S.P. Academy, Jammu, Mr.Mahipal Sharma, M.D . Minerva Public School, Kathua, and Mr. Rameshwar Manhas, M.D.Pragmatic School, Mira Sabha.
Vice Chancellors Prof RD Sharma and Chairman BOSE Manzoor Ahmed Chattanooga director School Education Babilla Rakwal also spoke on the occasion. (KNS)
