Auction of players held in SKICC IGP Kashmir advises teams to play the game in true sportsmanship

Srinagar June 02: The auction of players, for the teams participating in the “Police Public Cricket Premier League” was held in SKICC here today. 556 State Cricketers including National Cricketers, cricketers of colleges, University, Local players from all Districts of the State were put to auction for the owners of the 10 Cricket Teams participating in the gala event.

According to a statement to TKS, Inspector General of Police Kashmir S.J.M. Gillani was Chief Guest on the occasion who declared the auction open in an impressive function. IGP in his address welcomed the team owners and the players playing in the “Police Public Cricket Premier League”. The IGP said that the tournament is being organized by the state police to promote sports culture in the state. He said that a similar tournament was played last year in Jammu too and wished that this tournament will take the game to a next level in Kashmir. IGP stressed upon the coordinators and team owners to obey the rules and play the game in the spirit of the sportsmanship. IGP said that the opening and closing ceremonies will have a number of attractions such as On the opening of the PPCPL, the entertainment programmes like Laser show, acrobatic dance, Fire dance, Speed painting are being organized.

He said that the number of teams will be increased in the next edition of the “Police Public Cricket Premier League” and the competition will reach the other districts of the valley to appreciate the talent in the far off places as well.

Besides the team owners and managements, Deputy Inspector General of police CKR Sh. Ghulam Hassan Bhat, SSP Srinagar Amit Kumar, SSP R K Bhat and coordinator of the League Sh. Rajesh Gill were present on the occasion.

After that the bidding was opened which was going on till this report was filed.

As has been reported earlier that the tournament is being organized under the overall supervision & Chairmanship of Director General of Police, K.Rajendra Kumar IPS and the total amount of Rs.27.18 lacs will be awarded as Cash Prizes in this tournament which involves Rs. 5 lacs for Winner’s team, 3 lacs for runner’s up team, 2 lacs for third place, 1.5 lacs for 4th place, 1 lac each for fifth to eighth place, winner in every match Rs.10,000, Man of the Series Rs.50,000,Best batsman Rs.25,000,Best bowler Rs.25,000, for Scoring fifty runs Rs,5,000, for taking five wickets Rs.7000, for scoring a century of runs Rs.15,000, most sixes in a match Rs.2,000, man of the match in every match Rs.3,000 and best catch Rs.1000.

All the arrangements will be on the pattern of IPL such as colored uniforms, colored Leg Guards, Batting Gloves, Keeping Pads Gloves and Helmets which will be given to the participating teams by the Police Department.
