Jammu 11 Jan 2018 (KNB): Jammu and Kashmir’s ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) MLA Aijaz Ahmed Mir has triggered huge row by saying Kashmiri militants are our brothers.
While speaking to reporters outside the Assembly, he said “Militants who are from Kashmir are “martyrs” they are our brothers, some of them are minors who don’t even know what they are doing: We should not celebrate the killings of militants, it is our collective failure, we feel sad when our security forces are martyred as well, we should sympathize with parents of security jawans and with parents of militants as well.”
The coalition partner of the PDP BJP was very quick to hit back . “terrorists & separatists are the enemies of Kashmir, Kashmiris, development and peace. How can they be someone’s brother?, stated Senior BJP Leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, Union Minister.
Soon within the ranks of PDP explanations have started to galore . “We don’t glorify terrorism or extremism of any sort, says Waheed ur Rehman, PDP leader, after MLA Aijaz Ahmad Mir likens martyrs to Militants.
It is worth mentioning that Aijaz Ahmad Mir while speaking in the Assembly yesterday had stated that the militants were their brothers and demanded that militants should be taken on board to resolve the Kashmir issue.
The pulse on ground is that the statement of Aijaz Ahmad Mir is bound to create lot of news value and sensation in coming days. (KNB)
