Pakistan refutes Indian claim, says Naved not its citizen

The country’s National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) – an agency that maintains database of its citizens – said that the ‘images shown by Indian media do not match any Pakistani citizen’

Pakistan has refuted reports that one of its citizens was involved in an attack on a BSF convoy in Udhampur area of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday in which two soldiers and a militant were killed.

“Two militants attacked Border Security Force (BSF) convoy in Udhampur in Jammu on Wednesday. Two jawans were killed and 14 were injured in the attack,” the home minister Rajnath Singh said in a statement in the Rajya Sabha today.

“One of the two attackers was killed and the other was arrested with the help of locals. The other attacker has been brought to Jammu and interrogation is on. After initial interrogation, the attacker has told his name is Naved, alias Mohammad Usman, and he is from Faisalabad,” Singh added.

The country’s National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) – an agency that maintains database of its citizens – said that the ‘images shown by Indian media do not match any Pakistani citizen’.

“According to official sources, suspect Usman Khan alias Muhammad Naveed is not a Pakistani as his information was not found in the NADRA record,” Dunya News reported.
