Srinagar 22 Oct. Paying tribute to martyrs of Bijbahara massacre AIP Supremo and MLA Langate Er. Rasheed has accused New Delhi of denying justice to kashmiries and suppressing their voice in the name of so called national interest.
In a statement issued today to Kashmir Scenario,Er. Rashid said” it was today on 22 October 1993 when more 50 unarmed civilians were butchered and around 200 were critically injured by border security forces. The successive governments despite promising justice to the families of victims not only betrayed from their commitments but shamelessly like other massacres tried to hide the truth.
It is most unfortunate that not only justice has been delayed but completely denied to the victims” Er. Rashid asked political dispensation in New Delhi to explain if it blames day in and day out Kashmiris of being supporters of violence and propagating Pakistani agenda, why has even the case against those who carried out Bijbahara massacre been thrown to dustbin. He said “while hundreds of fake cases have been fabricated against Kashmiris not only in Kashmir but in other states also, those wearing uniform and supposed to protect life and property of innocents have been rewarded for killing innocents.
Denying justice to victims of Bijbahara is quite contrary to the New Delhi’s claims that kashmiries are its own people and it is just a section of kashmiries who feel alienated. The state institutions have miserably failed in doing justice with the masses and have rather on and often given collective punishment to kashmiries without any proper reason”
Er. Rashid questioned the dubious role played by NC and PDP for their organized moves in ensuring that justice is denied to Bijbhara victims, so that these so called regional parties remain in good books of New Delhi. He said that while Farooq Abdullah became chief minister just three years after Bijbahara massacre, PDP also despite ruling state for the second time, preferred to maintain criminal silence over the massacre.
