Nocturnal Fire Damages Houses in Srinagar; Firefighter Sustains Injuries

Srinagar 18 January (KNB): A nocturnal fire damaged several residential houses in Sekidafar area of SafaKadal Old City of central Kashmir’s Srinagar district.

Officials said that a furious fire raged in a residential house at Ganderpora Chowk of Sekidafar area and within no time engulfed at-least 6 houses located in its vicinity.

As per officials, the damaged houses belonged to Muhammad Amin Lone, Shabir Ahmad Lone, Late Ghulam Ahmad Bhat, Muhammad Dilawar Bhat, Muhammad Aslam Bhat and Ghulam Muhammad Bhat.

Soon after the reports reached the emergency services, a team rushed to the spot and while dousing the flames, a Sub Inspector rank officer of Fire and Emergency Services (F&ES) department sustained severe injuries after he fell down from a house, officials said.

The injured firefighter identified as Noor Aalam Khan, was immediately taken to a hospital for treatment.

Pertinently, this is the third fire incident in central Kashmir’s Srinagar district within last 24 hours. (KNB)
