‘No breakthrough in govt formation’ Govt not possible until Centre takes CBMs: Mehbooba

The Kashmir Scenario

Srinagar | Mar 07 : Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti Monday said that government formation with the BJP is not possible until the Centre steps in with Confidence building Measures, as discussed in the ‘Agenda of Alliance’ between the two parties.

“Unhunay yeh qadam bohut soch samaj kar uthaya hay. Unka faisla mera faisla. Lekin unka agenda of alliance bhi aham hay. Mufti Sahab took this decision after a clear understanding. His decision is mine but Agenda of Alliance is also important,” she said.

She sought tangible action on implementation of the party’s “Agenda of Alliance” to create an enabling environment for peace, economic development and prosperity of J&K.

“PDP made a bold and decisive political move in March 2015 by forming a coalition government with BJP in the larger interest of J&K’s peace and stability. Mufti saheb is well known for his conviction in his decisions and his commitment to fulfill them , with unflinching faith and sincerity , despite tremendous pressures .PDP will always honor his decision with the same unflinching faith and sincerity of purpose , but it is the turn of Government of India to reciprocate its sincerity , towards his vision of peace and prosperity of the state , by taking tangible action on ground ” she said.

“Respecting the atypical verdict of 2014 assembly elections and in the interest of inter-regional harmony, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed took the farsighted decision of forming a government in the State in coalition with BJP on the basis of a comprehensive and apt Agenda of Alliance,” Ms Mehbooba said while addressing an impressive public gathering at the launch of PDP’s membership drive in this border district.

Mehbooba said she and her party are committed to the “Agenda of Alliance” which encompasses redresses for almost all the facets of J&K’s peculiar challenges including internal, external, political, security, economic, social, developmental and governance issues in a comprehensive and effective manner. “I am sure if the measures spelled out in the Agenda of Alliance are implemented with sincerity of purpose, it will go a long way in not only addressing the trust-deficit between New Delhi and J&K but would also lay strong foundations for sustainable peace and prosperity in the State and the region,” she said and added that while Mufti Mohammad Sayeed made a visionary move in March 2015 by entering into coalition with BJP to form a stable government in the State, it was and is the responsibility of the Government of India to reciprocate the same by taking tangible steps towards implementation of the Agenda of Alliance, which addresses political, economic and developmental aspirations of all the regions and sub-regions of the State.  (PTK)
