NC turned Srinagar into concentration camp: PDP

Srinagar, March 25:  Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) youth wing in charge Waheed -Ur-Rehman Parra Tuesday said Omar Abdullah has converted Srinagar into a concentration camp and turned police stations into small scale industrial units for the ruling party politicians and some policemen, which gives a feel of the brutal Nazi era.

Speaking during an interaction session with students of Kashmir University on the party’s ‘Youth For Change’ at the party headquarters here Wahid said the biggest disservice of ruling government has been the war it has let loose on the youth of Kashmir particularly Srinagar over the last five years.  He said the maximum brunt of NC’s cruelty has been faced by the people of city and majority of youth killed by Omar Abdullah during 2010 belong to it. He said maximum FIRs have been lodged against the city youth by Omar Abdullah, who one side brags about ‘hand holding of youth’ and on the other ruining their lives and putting brakes on their future advancements

He said the city has been turned into a concentration camp and the police stations have become small scale industrial units for ruling party politicians and some policemen, where they mint money from innocent people. He said the oppression against the youth in Srinagar has been going on with all impunity and they are being summoned to police stations where they are either detained or released in lieu of hefty money. He said there is virtually martial law in place in the city and the youth are being harassed on pretext or the other.

He said powerlessness of Srinagar youth has reached to a stage, where they have to fear the batons of policeman for raising their voices against the injustice system being presided over by the NC. He said careers of thousands of young people have been compromised by the ruling dispensation which has been demonising them as drug addicts, criminals, miscreants, misguided, LeT elements etc.  He said the youth in the city are disempowered enough to live their lives better as they don’t find opportunities and chances to make their careers better with the result they are highly depressed.

Waheed said Srinagar has way back lost its historical, cultural and aesthetic glory because of NC, which has been representing it the most and shaming its people by calling it their bastion. He said the city by no means gives a feel of 21st century city and the ruling party has been taking its development for granted and brazenly demolishing or tempering with its monumental icons on one pretext or the other without caring about its historical grandeur.
He said people of Srinagar are facing huge hardships on various fronts and the ruling party, instead of solving their issues, has been brazenly stifling their voices by misusing the state apparatus. He said if the city is facing huge development crisis it is all because of the ruling party, which has not been able to take the development discourse in Srinagar beyond lanes and drains. He said it is shame to see even a brief shower inundates the city roads, which exposes the NC’s ‘development mantra’ for Srinagar. He said the dog menace has created havoc in Srinagar and instead of finding a via media to solve the issue and provide any relief, the ruling party prefers to sleep over the matter and allow dogs to ruin precious human lives.

He said the NC is the main cause behind the decay of Srinagar city it can’t go unscathed for turning the historical city into a slum, pushing its people to the wall and ruining careers of its youth.

On the occasion Dr Shanti Singh, Naveed Parra, Shahid Dar, Ahmed Rasool, Javid Mir, Shah Ajmal , Basit and others were present.
