NC finalised 4th list of Candidates Tanvir dropped, Omar, Afaq, Akhoon to surface in the list

Srinagar, Aug 23:As the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah arrived in valley on Friday and the final list of the party candidates has been finalized, Syed Akhoon will get his old turf Hazratbal while as Omar Abdullah has made up his mind to contest from Sonawar assembly segment of
Srinagar.

Sources within the National Conference told that the party has decided to field Syed Akhoon from Hazratbal while as Peer Afaq Ahmad will be nominated from Zadibal constituency. Reports said that party president has been strongly backing Afaq’ nomination from the area while as other party leaders were advocating the name of Tanveer Sadiq from the constituency. The party president earlier has categorically maintained that the mandate will be given to the party loyalists and to whom who would join the rival amp tomorrow as they have done the same during the past. Reports also informed that the party is in a fix over the candidature of its additional general secretary Dr Shiekh Mustafa Kamal with some suggesting Tangmarg constituency for Kamal. Tough fight between Ghulam Hassan Mir and Mustafa Kamal will be witnessed if Kamal contests from North Kashmir’s Tangmarg area with the support of Congress votes will also be in Mir’s favor. Congress has already declared that it will not file any candidate from Tagnmarg against Mir.

Interestingly, earlier the reports informed that Kamal won’t be contesting the coming polls with Kamal himself reluctant in entering into the contest. Omar Abdullah will be fielded from Sonawar according to the sources while as strong voices within the party are suggesting the name of Sheikh Jabbar for Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal assembly segment.

Earlier, Dr. Farooq during the detailed meet with NC leadership has asked Omar not to skip Ganderbal as the turf has remained NC’s bastion since 1977 when for the first time NC founder Shiekh Mohammad Abdullah contested and won. Meanwhile, 4th list of the party candidates that is scheduled to be declared on Sunday will include the candidature chief minister Omar Abdullah. Omar has gone through the list that his party general secretary Ali Mohammad Sagar has prepared in consultation with other party senior leaders.
