Lt. Gen. D P Panday to Head Srinagar Based 15 Corps

Srinagar 22 February (KNB): Currently serving as the Director General of the Territorial Army, Lieutenant General Devendra Pratap Panday is likely to head the Srinagar based 15 Corps—also known as Chinar Corps—soon.

Sources revealed that Lt Gen. D P Panday is going to succeed the Lt Gen. B S Raju and will oversee all the Army’s military operation in Kashmir.

Furthermore, sources said that Lt Gen. Paramjit Singh Sangha has taken over as Deputy Chief (Strategy), while Lt Gen. B.S. Raju will take charge as DGMO.

On 2nd March 2020, Lt. Gen. D P Panday took charge as the first Director General of Territorial Army.

Belonging to Amahiya near Gorakhpur District of Uttar Pradesh, Lt Gen. Panday was commissioned into the Sikh Light Infantry regiment in December 1985 and is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla, Pune, Maharashtra.

Having commanded a Rashtriya Rifles sector and a counter-insurgency unit in the Kashmir valley, he is well experienced in counter-insurgency and counter-terrorism operations.

Moreover, Lt Gen Pandey has held numerous prestigious staff appointments which included Director in Infantry Directorate. (KNB)
