Lt Gen Bipin Rawat appointed Chief of Army Staff




Lt Gen Bipin Rawat will be the 26th Army chief of strong Indian Army. He has been selected for the post considering his vast experience on different fronts to lead one of the finest Armies of the world.

Lt Gen Bipin Rawat has 38 illustrious years of service in different parts of country and also at important UN mission as Brigade commander. He has proud decorations of AVSM, YSM, SM, VSM, COAS (Twice), GOC IN C Commendation and Force commanders commendation while serving serving at UN.

LT Gen Rawat is graduate of Defence staff college, Wellington, also he has done Higher command course at Fort Leavenworth, USA.

The General Designate has severed on LOC as young officer, commanded a battalion on LC, Commanded a counter insurgency RR Sector in valley and latter a Div in J&K, he served as GOC Of  important army formation besides serving as Brigade commander at UN and other important staff postings.

Lt Gen Bipin Rawat has also served as GOC IN C  Southern Army command and has experience of Mechanised warfare and coordination with other two wings of armed forces of nation. For all his achievements he was appointed as vice chief of indian army and was expected to takeover as Army chief as he was already holding the chair of Vice Chief of Army Staff.

The army chief desiginate  foundly remembers the people of J&K where he has served in different capacities .He was firm with terrorists and very humane with local people. There has been a cheer among the people of j&K  that one of their loved General will head the Indian Army. While posted in J&K, he did a lot for students, sportsmen, old people, handicapped, destitues and unemployed youth besides upholding high traditions of indian army vis a vis dealing with civilians and other sister agencies.
