Srinagar 4 May (KNB): Security forces on Tuesday tightened the lockdown restrictions by regulating the flow of traffic movement in Srinagar to curb the cases of Covid from rising in the UT of Jammu and Kashmir.
According to news agency Kashmir News Bureau, Police patrolling parties could be seen early morning in various parts of the city who ensured the shops to be closed, public gatherings to be less and to prevent unnecessary public movement.
During the heightened vigil of forces to make lockdown a fruitful one, a number of vehicles were seized, roaming without any valid reason. Whereas the ones belonging to essential service were allowed to move freely.
Furthermore, the traffic movement in the Srinagar city was comparatively more than during the past few days. Similarly, the forces deployed on the streets were also seen more.
At many places like highways and main roads people were allowed to move only if necessary and rarely some shops were seen open in localities providing basic necessities.
A policeman on duty while talking to a KNB reporter said “At large people have been cooperative since the deadly second wave struck the valley. It’s our request to people that, stay at home and don’t put lives at risk”
Meanwhile the vaccination drive in different parts of the valley is in progress where citizens of the 18-45 age group are being vaccinated. (KNB)
