Kashmiri Pandit delegation calls on Geelani

Discuss dignified return of Pandits to valley

Srinagar, Jul 21 : A delegation of Kashmiri Pandits called on Hurriyat Chairman, Syed Ali Geelani at his residence on Friday.




The Kashmiri Pandit delegation that met the Syed Ali Geelani enquired about his health and discussed various issues related to return of Kashmiri Pandits.

During the meeting, they held discussion over the dignified return of displaced Kashmiri Pandits to the Valley and the issues associated with it.

Syed Ali Geelani made it clear to the delegation that APHC has always believed that Kashmiri Pandits were an integral part of Kashmiri society and Kashmiri people stand for their return to Kashmir and desire to see them once again becoming part of the society like they were in the past.

We are not against their return, Said Geelani and added that thousands of Pandits are still living with us and didn’t migrated to any other place. They are living in complete harmony and local Muslims help them & share their feelings .

Geelani said that they are part of Kashmir society & we have always urged them to return and we will welcome them if they are willing to settle within us and in our society,” he said.

And let state administration provide them help If any of them has disposed of his property, said Syed Ali Geelani.

Any separate colony for their (Pandits) settlement in Valley is unacceptable, and we believe it is division in the name of religion, hence we oppose it.




The freedom movement in state is in no way a Hindu Muslim conflict, nor it is sectarian row, instead we are pursuing a fundamental right for all living within territory of Jammu & Kashmir, said Geelani.
We believe that all including Hindu, Sikhs ,Bodh ,Christians and other communities’ have right to express their wish and will and need to be respected ,said Geelani.

Pandit leaders agreed with Syed Ali Geelani and said that every mature and sane person will never favor breakdown of mutual harmony and brotherhood between different communities.
Pandit leader admitted that thousands of members of Pandit community are living without feeling scare or facing hardships and living a peaceful life.

Pandit leader during his meeting with Huriyat chairman divulged that even today more than three thousand and five hundred families including five in Manigam, three in Laar, six in Tulmoola four in Wakkora, four Agular, Six in Ajas, twelve in Wahibugh, eighteen in Zeewan are living a peaceful life.
On this occasion Geelani Said that Kashmir issue has turned into a sore and because of its unresolved nature both communities including Pandit and Muslims in state are facing immense hardships.

As a human being, we feel the pain of Pandit community as they are part of this society, said Geelani.

The Pandit leader handed over a written statement to Geelani saying that his treatment and relationship with the Pundits has always been open and he has always helped them.

Meanwhile, terming the coldblooded murder of youth, Tanveer Ahmad (Beerwa) as state sponsored terrorism ,Syed Ali Geelani said that forces are carrying genocide in a planned manner.
Unless and until these forces are made accountable for their wrongdoings the killing spree will go unabated added Geelani .He extended his condolences to grieved family and said that whole nation share their grief.

Syed Ali Geelani since past seven years continues to be under house arrest while as ahead of protest and shutdown call on Friday, state authorities arrested Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai, Ayaz Akbar, Mohd Ashraf Laya, Omer Adil Dar & were either detained in police stations or placed under house arrest.




Hurriyat condemned the unjustified arrests and said that virtually state has been turned into a police garrison and creating and authorities with their might have evolved a graveyard like silence. (KNS)
