Kashmiri inmates facing hardships in jails, police stations: Malik

Terms deployment of more pellet guns as ‘Indian aggression against Kashmiris’



Srinagar, Mar 02 : Expressing dismay over the condition of inmates languishing in various jails and police stations, Jammu and Kashmir Liberation front (JKLF) chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik on Thursday said that double standards, dishonoring court orders vis-à-vis Kashmiri inmates highly painful.

In a statement issued to KNS, Malik said, “Kashmiri prisoners especially those incarcerated under black law PSA facing hardships in jails and police stations.”
He said that the deployment of more pellet guns in Kashmir, ‘a clear demonstration of Indian aggression against Kashmiris’.

JKLF chairman said that the plight of prisoners is extremely deplorable and rulers with the help of their police and other forces are employing every tactic to prolong their incarceration.

He said that JKLF leaders and activists including JKLF zonal organizer Bashir Ahmad Kashmiri, JKLF leader Zahoor Ahmad Butt, JKLF zonal deputy general secretary Farooq Ahmad Dar, District president Ganderbal Bashir Ahmad Rather (Boya), Mushtaq Ahmad Mir of Kupwara, Molvi Reyaz of Sopore, Assadullah Sheikh of Kulgam and many others are languishing in jails and police stations, facing discrimination and even judicial unfairness.

JKLF chairman said, “Police is using every tactic to inflict more harm to these inmates and prolong their incarceration.”

He said that although police and forces don’t honor court orders these inmates regarding it has also been observed that from some time even courts are not listening to their cases as regularly that is actually adding to the miseries of these inmates.

Malik said that JKLF leaders Bashir Kashmiri and Bashir Boya are in jails under PSA from last six months and Molvi Reyaz whose PSA finished recently was re-arrested and put in lockup at police station Kreeri Pattan.

He said that Kupwara police recently arrested JKLF leaders Zahoor Ahmad Butt and Farooq Ahmad Dar and from last about 20 days both are being kept in incarceration on fake and fabricated charges at Trehgam Police station.

Similarly JKLF senior activist Mushtaq Ahmad Mir is ailing in Kotbalwal jail and he is not being provided proper medical care.

Terming the deployment of 4949 more pellet guns in Kashmir as ‘Indian apathy and aggression against Kashmiris’, JKLF chairman said, “Pellet guns that are meant against animals are being used to kill, blind and maim Kashmiris that too without any shame or regret.”

He said that the Kashmiri rulers and other pro-India politicians and parties are actually ‘responsible for this oppression against Kashmiris’.




JKLF chairman said, “Indian as well as Kashmiri rulers should bear in mind that tyranny and oppression can never break the will of Kashmiri nation and despite hardships we will continue our freedom struggle with passion and zeal.” (KNS)
