Kashmir FC were highly unlucky to not come away up with something after controversial refereeing denied them an equalising goal in their Round 8 match of I-league Division 2nd at Golaghat Assam.
The conditions were quite troublesome as it was raining heavily throughout the match and both teams had to conjure challenging conditions. It was the J&K team who drew first blood with Ajay scoring an emphatic header of the cross from Waseem. The team almost doubled the lead with Gagandeep’s attempt crashing of the cross bar.
The Second half started with Kashmir FC maintaining their lead but Mohemmadan equalised against the run of play with the opposite striker scoring with venomous volley.Kashmir FC didn’t set back and tried to again go for the goal with Ajay and Christopher trying their level best to score .But it was Mohemmadan who took the lead on the counter attack.Kashmir FC then pressed hard for an equaliser and thought they scored when Ajay put the ball into the back of the net on Christopher’s rebound but it was controversially denied by the referee for an alleged Offside. The final score ended 2-1 in favour of Mohemmadan Sporting.
Coach Hilal said”It was a tough game as the conditions were terrible but the boys played their best.We were unlucky as we couldn’t convert quite a few chances that came our way and the offside decision wrongly disallowed what could have been the equaliser for us.But its football you either win or lose.We need to go back to working hard in training and focus on matches ahead.
Kashmir FC were harshly denied a point which would have helped them to close the gap at the top.But the team would look to bounce back in the next game and once again prove that there worthy title credentials
