Karra asks Dr Farooq to spell-out his ‘achievements’

Srinagar, March 28: Questioning the National Conference patron, Dr Farooq Abdullah for his comments that ‘people will vote them for their performance’, the senior Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader and former finance minister, Tariq Hameed Karra said Dr Farooq must give account of his performance as an MP and union minister, instead of using old and outdated mantra of deceiving the people.

Speaking during public meetings at Panzan and Rangar in Charar-e-Sharif constituency today Karra said Dr Farooq must spell-out his ‘achievements’, as an MP and union minister, before the public and must come out with an account of the performance of the government which NC has been  currently heading in the state. He said fact of the matter is that the performance of Dr Farooq as the union minister has been terrible vis-à-vis Jammu and Kashmir as he miserably failed to start a single project in the state.

Karra said Dr Farooq and his family, who have been representing Srinagar parliamentary constituency for long in the parliament, has not been able to take up a single project in the constituency, which shall be termed their ‘achievement’. Karra said Dr Farooq as an MP has been a poor performer as he could not even fully utilize his constituency development fund leave aside doing anything good for the state.

“Instead of putting in efforts to make the power supply better in Kashmir, Dr Farooq has accused all of us ‘Maha Chors’ (Big Thieves) without looking at himself where he stands in the public life”, he said adding the NC collaborated in the hanging of Mohammad Afzal Guroo and it can’t absolve of the crimes it committed in Kashmir.

Similarly, he said, performance of the National Conference led government in the state has been disastrous which not only vitiated the peaceful atmosphere created by the PDP during its brief  stint in the government but even inflicted maximum injuries to the people by using every method of oppression against them. He said if the Shopian rape and murder case in 2009; the 2010 killings; the mysterious death of Haji Yousuf at the chief minister’s residence in 2011; burning of Dastgeer Shahib (RA) shrine in 2012; hanging of Mohammad Afzal Guroo in 2013; the Gool, Gagren (Shopian), Markundal (Sonawari) killings in 2013, are any achievement of this government then people must vote for NC.

He said the NC through its repeated sell-outs, U-turns and deceit has done a considerable damage to the state and had not it committed historical blunders people would not have been suffering like they are today. He said the pain and agony of the people of Kashmir is direct result of NC’s cruelty and frauds and people have now understood their double-standards and it is now only the matter of time to see it packing from here.

Karra, who is the PDP’s parliamentary candidate for Srinagar parliamentary constituency, said the historical Srinagar city is the victim of NC’s politics and bad performance. He said the ruling government has turned a blind towards the suffering of people of Srinagar in particular and Kashmir in general.

On the other hand, he said, PDP during its brief tenure in the government made every effort to restore the lost glory of the city. He said the beautification of Jhelum bunds, construction of first flyover, four laning of bypass road, mega drainage project, construction of Chatabal veer, renovation of Aalie Masijid, development of Eid Gah etc., are some visible achievement of PDP in the city.
