Srinagar, Feb 13 (KNB): The 31-hours long encounter in densely populated area Karan Nagar area of district Srinagar on Tuesday ended following the killing of two militants and a CRPF man. An official said that two militants belong to Lashkar e Toiba has been killed during an encounter, adding that the gun battle is over.
IG Kashmir SP Pani and IG CRPF Ravideep Sahi briefing media on the Karan Nagar encounter said both the bodies along with as many AK-47 assault rifles and eight magazines were recovered, adding,the Army was not involved in the operation.
The militants on Monday morning again stormed in Karan Nagar area of Kashmir’s summer capital Srinagar City, six days after two policemen were killed last week in (SMHS) to make the escape route for a foreign militant. The attack comes hours after government troops ended a two-day gun battle with three armed gunmen at an army camp in Jammu.
A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) constable identified as Mujahid Khan was killed on Day 1st of the gun battle.
Pertinently, high speed Internet services were suspended in Srinagar and restrictions were imposed in parts of Srinagar to maintain law and order.
The identity of slain militants was not ascertained till this report was filed. (KNB)
