Dozens of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) leaders were detained on Wednesday as police foiled a protest rally of the outfit in Kashmir capital Srinagar.

Scores of JKLF leaders, led by Noor Muhammad Kalwal, took out a protest march from Sarai Bala area of Srinagar to demand mortal remains of Maqbool Butt and Afzal Guru who were secretly buried inside Tihar Jail in New Delhi.

The protesters were carrying banners with messages demanding the return of mortal remains of Bhat and Guru as they marched ahead.

However, policemen deployed in the area swung into action and detained thirteen leaders of the outfit, said a spokesman.

JKLF had earlier planned a peaceful protest march in Lal Chowk area of Srinagar, but all the exit and entry points to the area were sealed by police and paramilitary personnel to prevent the protests.
