JK Water Sports Association Elects Body Tak Elected As President , MLA Wachi Aijaz Mir Senior Vice President

Srinagar, Dec 21: A newly formed Jammu and Kashmir Water Sports (Kayaking and Canoeing Association) has elected its office bearers here today. Member Legislative Council Firdous Tak was elected as President, Member Legislative Assembly (Wachi) Aijaz Ahmed Mir as Senior Vice President and renowned kayaking coach and member JK State Sports Council Bilquis Mir as Secretary General of the Association.

MS Tomar Joint Secretary Indian Kayaking and Canoeing Association (IKCA) supervised the process as the observer while Nissar Ahmed performed his duties as Returning Officer. Speaking on the occasion MLC Firdous Tak said that Jammu and Kashmir has the potential of being the best available destination for all adventure activities including water sports. He said that JK has water bodies in abundance “as such we have beeny naturally bestowed with all required infrastructure for the water sports & the present government is committed to boost water sports in the state”.

MLA Aijaz Mir who has been elected as Sr. Vice president said that the team has already been working for promotion of water sports in the state. “Our teams and players have excelled at the zonal and national level & our state is blessed with not only water resources but also with internationally reputed kayaking coach Bilquis Mir which is an advantage for the players.”

Aijaz mir Lauded the efforts put in by State sports minister ” Our sports minister in the state has reviewed number of games which otherwise had remained confined to papers.” he added. Bilquis Mir thanked for full cooperation of Sports Minister, Commissioner Secretary , Concerned deptt to the players participating in various events.
