J&K reports third death of Covid-19, number of death cases rises to 39

Srinagar, June 06(KNB): With third death reported in a single day, the death toll reached to 39 on Saturday in Jammu and Kashmir.

As per the reports, 70-year-old man’s resident of Handwara area of north Kashmir Kupwara district swab sample returned positive for the virus, hours after his death at SMHS hospital here.

Besides testing positive for the virus, he had multiple problems and died of bilateral pneumonia.

Earlier in the day, two deaths were recorded in a day, one of the victims includes a 70 year old man from Shopian who was shifted to CD hospital yesterday  and another female 62 year old from Jammu.

While as, the elderly woman from Miran Sahib Jammu who was admitted on 24 May and tested positive subsequently, died today. Besides testing positive for the virus, she was suffering from heart and orthopedic problems also.

As of now,  the death toll due to the virus in J&K has gone up to 39 with  Srinagar district having the highest number of deaths nine,   followed by Baramulla seven, Anantnag five, Kulgam four, three each in Shopian and Jammu, two each in Budgam  and Kupwara while one death each has been reported from Bandipora, Doda and Udhampur.(KNB)
