‘Hayen Bridge turns into a death trap for commuters’
Srinagar | Mar 04 : The 80-meter long Hayen Bridge which connects between a dozens of villages with each other is in shambles. The deteriorated condition of the bridge is getting worse day-by-day leaving a huge populace in hardships.
“We fear to travel on the bridge as it can collapse any time. Only light motor vehicles are allowed to ply on it as its one beam is already damaged. The bridge is not same for travelling, but we travel in vehicles because we have no any other option,” said the locals.
However, the locals have repeatedly appealed the authorities and the concerned authorities about the renovation of the bridge. Even the MLA concerned Mian Altaf has released Rs 8 lacs from his constituency fund seven months ago. Altaf had directed the DC Ganderbal to start working on the project without any further delay, but till date nothing has been seen on the ground.
“Every department comes and takes estimate of the bridge, but work is not being started. We don’t know why there is a delay even if the funds have also been sanctioned,” said the locals. DC Ganderbal said he is busy in the meeting
