India, Pakistan exchange fire at LoC

Ifra Khan

Pakistan and Indian border troops exchanged on Tuesday firing across the Line of Control (LoC) in the Nowshera sector of Rajouri district.

The exchange of fire began at 8:45 am. No loss of lives has been reported thus far. Unprovoked firing has continued over the course of this month.

Tensions have been running high between Pakistan and India since the Sept 18 deadly attack on an Indian military base in Uri, in the north kashmir’s Baramulla district.

Around 95 people have been killed and thousands injured in violent protests triggered by the killing of a young hizb commander Burhan Wani by Indian security forces in Kokernag area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on July 8.
