Srinagar | Oct 20: Most of the pellet hit victims, who are bedridden at SMHS hospital regaining gradually their partial eye-sight, have one thing to say “our struggle isn’t over”.
They say they might be the worst sufferers of the prevailing conflict and might hardly see the colours of the world again, but these youngsters hardly feel disappointed.
“We got injured or lost something while being part of the pro-freedom protests. Why to feel disappointed. It was written in the destiny,” they said.
A youth from south Kashmir (name withheld) said it is not over. “We all have to fight with the challenges. Now I am also ready to face the challenges that come into my way,” he said.
Another boy from Pulwama, name withheld for security reasons, said he was on the way to Darasgah to read Quran, when pellets hit him.
“When I was hit by the pellets I wasn’t part of the protest. But that doesn’t mean I didn’t protest. We have a demand and we will continue to raise voice till our cries aren’t heard,” he said.
“Forces showered pellets on us without any provocation,” he said.
Another boy from Kupwara, who has least possibility of regaining eyesight, said he has a message for the leaders who are heading the present uprising.
“I want to ask them how they would feel if they close their eyes for five minutes. The whole world is dark for me. Even if Kashmir achieves independence, I won’t be able to see anything. But I don’t want this present 2016 uprising to meet the same fate of 2010 or 2008. Hurriyat should continue with it till something is achieved. This is my only aim and hope left now. This all shouldn’t go into vain,” he said. (PTK)
