The former Jammu and Kashmir finance minister and MLA Rajpora, Dr Haseeb Drabu, who is also credited for stitching an alliance with right wing BJP, is a facing allegation for helping his cronies in grabbing land in southern district of Pulwama for political gains.
A family in Pulwama has alleged that Dr Drabu is pressuring the police and the district administration to transfer a land that actually belongs to them.
Our land is located at Abhama Kewat and we wanted to Grow Holland breed trees there. For that purpose we leveled the land and spent 2 lacks on it. When we completed the leveling on the intervening night some people backed by Drabu Sahib illegally occupied our land,” a family member alleged.
“We went to concerned authorities also to Divisional Commissioner Kashmir who gave orders for restoration of actual position of land to concerned DC, Tehsildar and Patwari, after seeking report about the land from them. But till now these people have not vacated the premises and are
illegally staying there,” he added.
“We went again to Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, he immediately sent a communication to concerned authorities to help in restoration of actual position of land. Following that we heard Drabu Sahib might visit our village as the party which is illegally occupying the land has asked him to come over there. We communicated to Drabu Sahib through a youth leader, to avoid visiting the village, so that thing would not become problematic, But to our surprise Drabu Sahib not only visited but also had launch with these people,” said another family member.
The family members said that Dr Drabu the village almost one year after he was elected and was confronted by people.
“We asked him instead of resolving issues you have come to put the village of fire. We told him that 70 young men who had supported him during elections would pick up gun against this inhumanity,” another young men from the village said.
“You have pressurized SP and even SSP, as one among them called us to say that,” another family member said.
“The villagers ho have occupied the land have nothing to do with it an don’t live in the village. Drabu Sahib has provoked them and will transfer my land to Auqaf to strengthen his political roots. We knocked at the doors of every office to get justice against these persons, who are behaving like goondas. Among them one is Mohammad Irshad, an ex- militant, another numberdaar of the village and a person namely Mohammad Yousuf.” He said.
It is pertinent to mention that after giving a miss to his constituency for an year and would often tell his workers to apply deodorant before coming to his office, recently distributed turmeric and rice in the far flung areas of his constituency sensing elections might be in store, after PDP president gave a cold shoulder to her alliance partner BJP over forming of government in Jammu and Kashmir.
There have been frequent protests by workers against the sitting MLA of Rajpora for being absent from the constituency.
