Horror near Delhi: I was dragged into shed to be raped, claims JNU girl

New Delhi: Seven Delhi students have alleged that they were attacked by locals during a recent visit to a lake in Asola near Delhi, while one girl in the group was molested and threatened with rape, a report in the Hindustan Times said on Friday.

The students, who belong to the Jawaharlal Nehru University and St Stephen’s college in Delhi University, further claimed that the Haryana Police refused to register their complaint and take action in this regard.

Following this, a zero FIR was registered at the Vasant Kunj police station in Delhi.

According to JNUSU president Mohit Pandey, the girl is in deep trauma following the untoward incident.

As per the complaint filed with the police, the students were attacked while they were returning on August 15 after spending an evening at the lake. The woman was riding on a bike with two of her friends when they were allegedly stopped by an elderly man carrying a lathi. Soon, other people joined him.

“Four people tried to grab us. The guy who stopped us was drunk and asked what we were doing there. The other guy slapped me and abused me,” the FIR quotes the victims as saying, as per the report.

The woman told the police that the attackers even groped her and questioned about her relationship with the male friends in the group.
